The Tax Collector’s office collects local property taxes for Rowan County, nine municipalities, and twenty-three fire districts. With a tax collection rate of 97.08 percent, they provide more than 50 percent of total revenue for our County. Over 300,000 items or calls were processed through the office, including real estate bills, vehicle bills, tax certifications, business licenses and citizen inquiries.

A taxpayer may call the office at anytime to obtain tax information about their account. To respond to some citizens’ requests tax payments via credit card is now available. Citizens may pay their taxes 24/7 by dialing a toll free number or Internet. Official Payments charges a minimal fee for the service.
